Your First Visit
We’re glad you chose Parsons Dental Care, and we want your first visit to be a great one. Whether you’re brand new to the area, haven’t been to the dentist in a while, or are simply looking for a new dental home, we’ll make sure you feel welcome and well cared for from the moment you arrive.
Our first appointment with you is about more than just teeth — it’s about getting to know you. We want to understand your dental history, hear about any concerns you’ve been putting off, and establish a clear picture of where your oral health stands today. From there, we can build a plan that fits your goals and your schedule.
What to Bring
To help us get started smoothly, please bring the following to your first appointment:
Your dental insurance card, if you have coverage. This allows us to verify your benefits and provide a cost estimate before treatment begins.
Any recent panoramic X-rays, if taken within the past six months. If your previous dentist has records on file, we may be able to request them directly — just let us know.
A list of any medications you are currently taking, including prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, and supplements.
We also ask that you plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. This gives you a chance to complete your new patient paperwork before your appointment begins, so we can stay on schedule and make the most of your time with us. Patient forms are also available to download from our website so you can complete them at home in advance if you prefer.
What to Expect
Your first appointment will typically last approximately one hour. Here’s a general overview of how it goes:
We’ll start by reviewing your health history forms and asking a few follow-up questions to make sure we have a complete picture of your overall health and any medications or conditions that might affect your dental care.
In most cases, we’ll take X-rays during your first visit. Our digital X-ray system is fast and uses a fraction of the radiation of older technology. If your teeth and gums are in good shape, we’ll typically go ahead with a professional cleaning at the same appointment.
Dr. Ebersole will then perform a thorough examination of your teeth, gums, and oral tissues. This includes checking for cavities, evaluating your gum health, screening for signs of oral cancer, and assessing your bite and jaw function.
At the end of the visit, we’ll walk you through what we found, discuss any treatment recommendations, and provide home care instructions. If any follow-up treatment is needed, we’ll schedule those appointments before you leave.
New Patient Forms
To save time at your first appointment, you’re welcome to download and complete our new patient forms in advance. Forms are available under the Patient Forms section of our website. Completed forms can be brought with you on the day of your visit.
